KSC Wins Short Course State Championships

Aloha KSC ‘Ohana,

We had a great Short Course State Swimming Championships on Kona, Hawaii last week. We want to congratulate all our swimmers that competed and congratulations on our team winning this year’s Short Course State Championships. We have also sent the most State qualifiers to date with 96 swimmers attending last week’s meet. 

A huge mahalo to our parents who volunteered and made sure that every swimmer was looked after for. We can’t thank you enough.   Our swimmers raced many best times, and we want to congratulate some of the performances:

10&Under Age group

Isaiah Whitford and Mila Ketchen had great swims all week. Mila swam great in the 100 butterfly with a personal best time of 1:18.67 seconds, dropping 9 seconds. Isaiah swam the 200 freestyle, dropping 13.70 seconds and clocking in at a personal best time of 2:32.36.

11–12-year-old age group

Caroline Biddle and Ezra Harrer were exceptional in their races last week. Ezra dropped time in all his events with the best being his 500 freestyle, dropping almost 40 seconds and clocking in at a time of 5:43.37Caroline swam her best time ever in the 400 individual medley with a new personal best time of 5:15.96, shaving 25 seconds off from her previous best time and a new SWAGR qualifying time.

13–14-year-old age group

Elijah Whitford and Syney Zhao made great improvements last weekend. Sydney dropped 13 seconds in her 200 butterfly, with a new best time of 2:38.69. Elijah had his best time improvement also in his 200 butterfly where he cut 15 seconds from his previous time and finished in a time of 2:09.91.

15 – 18-year-old age group

Jordan Bridgford made great improvements in his 400 medley where he dropped 19 seconds to get a new personal best time of 4:21.14Jada Lee made the best improvement in her 200 butterfly dropping to an new personal best time of 2:21.45, shaving off a little more than 6 seconds from her previous time.

Congratulations to our Individual high point winners Jia Kim (Girls 10&Under), and Sage Miller (Girls 15-18). 

Two Hawaiian Age Group Records were set over the weekend as well as three new team records. Congratulations to all the new state and team record holders.  New State relay records and individual records broken are listed below.
