Southwest Age Group Regionals

 

KSC represented Hawaii well on the mainland last week at the Southwest Age Group Regionals held in Clovis,

 

California. The weather had its ups and downs but it didn’t stop our swimmers from pushing themselves

 

to greater heights. KSC finished 9th overall out over 70 teams.

 

We would like to give a big congratulations to Jia Kim on her performance at the meet and for gaining a new

 

team record in the 500 freestyle with a new personal best time of 6:01.01. Jia improved her previous time

 

by 6.44 seconds and took the first-place spot in this event. Jia also took home three other first place finishes in

 

the 200 freestyle, 200 IM, and the 100 freestyle events. Great job Jia!!!

 

Congrats to all the swimmers that participated at the meet!

 

For the 10&Under girls division Ina Rutka had a impressive meet with her best event swam in the 100 freestyle,

 

finishing with a 1:04.38 and taking the 5th in her age group.

 

In the 11 year-old division Jack Nguyen swam his fastest 50 breaststroke yet with a time of 36.40shaving

 

off 1.23 seconds and finishing 3rd in his age group.

 

In the boys 12 year old age group Mason Nishimura had a lifetime best in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.67.

 

In the boys 13-year-old age group Evan Lin had a great swim in his 100 breaststroke with a new personal best

 

time of 1:03.58, dropping 1 second and placing 2nd in the event.

 

In the boys 14-year-old age group Elijah Whitford had dropped almost 3 seconds in the 200 backstroke with a

 

time of 2:05.34 and placing 3rd in the event.

 

We would like to thank the parents for all your help timing at the meet and supporting your children as well as

 

the coaches during the meet. We can’t wait to see what they do next year!

 

 

Senior Sectional Championships

 

The Senior Sectional group improved a ton during this meet in Federal Way, WA and it showed in the pool. KSC

 

ended the meet in 16th place overall out of over a hundred teams.

 

We would like to congratulate our team and LSC record holders:

 

Congratulations to Amar’e San Diego for clocking in a KSC team and LSC record in the 100 breaststroke with a

 

time of 1:07.17L.  

 

Our women’s 200 medley relay also captured another team and LSC women’s record which consisted of

 

Journei Webster, Sala Yasumi, Sage Miller, and Kamakana Kaahaaina with a new best time of 1:59.89L.

There was a lot of exceptional races at this year's Senior Sectional meet:

 

Kona Flanagan did really well in her 800 freestyle where she shaved off 36.43 seconds off her time with a finals

 

time of 9:46.62L.

 

Kamakana Kaahaaina had a terrific meet dropping in all her events. Kamakana had her best 100 freestyle with

 

a new personal best time of 1:02.53L, dropping almost 4 seconds from last year.

 

Timothy Lorge had a great swim meet. Tim had the best improvement in the 100 breast stroke with a new

 

personal best time of 1:10.33L, dropping a little over 4 seconds from last year

 

Amar’e San Diego had a terrific meet. Amar’e made the best improvement in his 200 breaststroke, cutting 17

 

seconds and finishing with a time of 2:31.48L.

 

Congratulations to all the swimmers that swam, you represented Kamehameha Swim Club well. It’s another

 

meet in the books and now it is time to get back to the grind.
