Kamehameha Swim Club swimmers had a big weekend at the 2014 High School State Championships Feb 14-15. Swimmers were well represented at the meet scoring many final swims and taking 7 individual titles while breaking 5 Hawaii High School State records. State champions included Ryan Stack (200fr, 500fr), Kanoa Kaleoaloha (100fr), Kevin Frifeldt (100fly), Jasmine Mau (200fr, 100fly), and Rebecca Walton (500fr). School pride runs deep and apparently its in the water as well. This past week KSC was on the Big Island aiming for their 23rd straight team title at the Hawaii State Swimming Championships. With the Auburn vs Florida State National Championship football game nearing on Jan 6, John wanted to show his support for his alma mater. Congratulations to all the swimmers who participated in this past weekend's State Championship meet in Kona! KSC won its 23rd straight title thanks to an amazing team performance. Twenty-eight Hawaiian State Records were set by KSC swimmers over the weekend with nineteen in the relays and nine individually. Grace Monahan broke the 10 and under 50 fly record with a 29.29. KSC finishes Speedo Senior Sectional Championship with highest team finish by a Hawaii Team in History! The KSC men finished 6th overall and the women finished 8th with a combined team finish of 8th overall out of over 170 teams. The performance was highlighted by a new Sectional Championship record from Jasmine Mau in the women’s 100 Fly. KSC's Jasmine Mau shattered the sectional record en route the title in the women's 100 Fly. Her time of 52.77 was also a Hawaiian age group and Hawaiian open record. KSC got off to a fast start on the first night of the Speedo Northwest sectional championships. The men's 800 free relay quartet of Austin Hirstein, Ryan Stack, Jake Urbano and Kale Ai finished second overall in a blistering time of 6:42.93.
